Australia ha barrido la serie T20I de cinco partidos contra las Indias Occidentales con 2 partidos restantes.
Playing his first competitive match since the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final, Tim David has emphatically hit 11 sixes on a hot Tuesday night in St Kitts. In a breathtaking assault against the West Indies in the 3rd T20I, David smashed an unbeaten 102 off just 37 balls, registering the fastest T20I century by an Australian, eclipsing Josh Inglis’ 43-ball mark from last year.
Tim David’s power while chasing
What made the knock even more staggering was the situation. Walking in at 61/3 while chasing a steep 215, David counterattacked from ball one, dispatching his first delivery to the boundary and never looking back. He reached his half-century in just 16 balls, another Australian record, before launching into overdrive. The power-hitter particularly brutalised the Windies spinners, including Gudakesh Motie, Akeal Hosein, and Roston Chase, who was plundered for 23 runs in one over alone.
His 128-run stand with Mitchell Owen (36* off 16) took Australia home in just 16.1 overs and handed them an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. What was more fascinating is that David used Andre Russell’s bat in the match. The Caribbean legend played his last T20I match in the previous game as he bid goodbye to the West Indies fans.
Joins Abhishek Sharma, edges past Sanju Samson
David’s century now sits joint-third on the list of fastest T20I centuries in matches involving Full Member nations. He equals India’s Abhishek Sharma, who also struck a 37-ball ton against England earlier this year, and crucially, edges past Sanju Samson, who recorded a 40-ball hundred against Bangladesh in 2024.
David’s IPL affiliation with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has made him a household name in India as well. Also, he played a extremely crucial role in RCB’s maiden IPL triumph earlier this year, as he clubbed 187 runs at a strike rate of 185.15. Among Australians, only Aaron Finch (14) has hit more sixes in a T20I innings than David’s 11.
