El equipo de cricket de Pakistán había perdido una serie bilateral ODI ante las Indias Occidentales recientemente, después de una brecha de 34 años.
Pakistan cricket team is going through bit of a turmoil currently. Be it the Tests, ODIs or the T20Is — the rankings have dropped, with the team managing to lose quite consistently. Out of the three Tests, they have lost two and won one, in ODIs out of the 11 played, the team managed two wins only. Lastly, in the shortest format only seven wins came their way from 14.
Now, as per a report in Cricket Pakistan, the hefty salaries that the Pakistani players draw, has come under question. This could be last year, when the centrally contracted players will get the 3% of the ICC’s revenue share. This move could be after PCB is not happy with the performance.
It was two years ago that a group of senior players had pressured the PCB, to give them a share of the ICC’s revenue. That said, it seems that the players haven’t been paid for the shirt logo sponsorship for months now. As per the current clause, the players are to receive a portion of income from the earnings from team logo sponsorships, at the end of a series.
There is a belief that no other board in the world does so. But as per current agreement, it is mandatory. The report further suggested that, even though the budget for retainership expenses has increased to PKR 319 million, the match fees and monthly salaries won’t change.
As per the current contracts, the fees is as follows: In the category A, players get PKR 4.5 million, 2.07 million from the ICC share. In category B, players get 3 million and 1.5 million from ICC share. Players in C get 1 million and 1.035 million. Lastly, In Group D, players get 750,000 plus 517,000 per month.
