El jugador de cricket ex-Pakistán, Danish Kaneria, gritó la hipocresía de la India al permitir que el equipo se enfrente a Pakistán en la Copa Asia, pero no en la CMA 2025
Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has questioned India’s acceptance to face Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025. His remarks come after the Asia Cup schedule released on Saturday confirmed that the arch-rivals will lock horns on September 14 in the group stage of the 8-nation tournament. Kaneria slammed India for deciding to take on Pakistan at the Asia Cup while they had only recently boycotted the tie against Pakistan Champions in the WCL 2025.
“Let sport be sport”
Taking to social media platform X, Kaneria claimed that India should have played the WCL tie against Pakistan if taking them on in Asia Cup was okay. He urged the BCCI to stop using patriotism and instead allow a sport to be a sport. Uncertainty over the future of India vs Pakistan matches at ICC and other events prevailed following the Pahalgam terror attack.
However, earlier this week, the decks were cleared for Asia Cup 2025 after BCCI finally agreed to be a part of the Asian Cricket Council meeting. Prior to that, the BCCI had gotten clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to face Pakistan in future events. Now, the 8-nation toyurnament may perhaps see India taking on Pakistan at least twice in the course of the tournament. Asia Cup will begin on September 9, mostly to be hosted by UAE or Abu Dhabi, and the final will be played on September 26.
Meanwhile, the WCL 2025 tie between India and Pakistan was cancelled after several Indian stars decided to boycott the tie. Players like Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan and Yusuf Pathan decided to pull out of the tie citing national interests, leading to the game being called off. The tie was supposed to mark the start of WCL 2025 for Yuvraj Singh-led India champions. Instead, Pakistan Champions got two points from the abandoned tie.
