He walked into bat withe hosts struggling at 88/4. Australia soon slipped to 122/6, leaving Maxwell as the last recognized batsman. He held his nerve stitching valuable partnerships with Ben Dwarshius. The pacer only scored a solitary run in their 41-run stand, with Maxwell doing the heavy lifting. A maiden from Corbin Bosch added drama, but Maxwell finished things off in the final over.
Maxwell key to Australia’s T20 world Cup plans
Maxwell had a dreadful IPL 2025 season with the Punjab Kings. He scored 48 runs in 6 innings, averaging 8 at a strike rate of 97.95. Now after a good rest, he is rejuvenated, which are good signs for Australian cricket. He might have retired from ODIs, but Maxwell remains a key part of Australia’s T20 plans under captain Mitchell Marsh.
