Un ex miembro del private de apoyo de la India ha dejado de lado las aspersiones sobre la aptitud de Rohit Sharma después de su retiro de las pruebas
Former India cricket team support staff member Soham Desai has rubbished reports of any fitness-related issues with Rohit Sharma. The ex-strength and conditioning coach’s remarks come after the veteran abruptly announced his decision to retire from Tests just before the IND vs ENG series. Clearing any doubts over Rohit’s fitness, Desai claimed that while the batter could improve 100%, there was no doubt that he was trying his best.
“People assume Rohit Sharma…”
As per The Indian Express, Soham Desai claimed that it was no fluke that Rohit managed to lead the Indian team for four years. He said that the former Indian skipper missed two games out of four at the maximum, adding that it was no fluke.
“People assume Rohit doesn’t work hard on his fitness. Given his history, for him to lead at the highest level for four years with a game or two missed is significant. He cannot do that by fluke, right? He must be doing something right. Can he get better? Yes, 100%. He will be the first one to say that. But to assume that he doesn’t work hard is a bit much,” Desai said.
Rohit retires from Test cricket
Earlier this year, Rohit confirmed that he’ll continue as India’s ODI captain. In February, the Hitman led the Men in Blue to ultimate glory by winning the Champions Trophy 2025. Right now, he would aim to play until the ODI World Cup 2027.
“Hello everyone I would just like to share that I am retiring from Test cricket. It’s been an absolute honour to represent my country in whites. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format,” Rohit wrote.
