Liam Dawson made a much awaited comeback to the England side in the IND vs ENG 4th Test in Manchester. The 35-year-old was drafted in after Shoaib Bashir was ruled out with injury. It was Dawson’s 4th Test cap and his first since 2017, which he marked with the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Liam Dawson made his debut 9 years ago in Chennai against India in 2016. His debut was overshadowed by one Karun Nair, who smashed a stunning 303 in that game. The left-arm spinner however did leave a mark, with two wickets on a flat surface. Dawson trapped Murali Vijay LBW and got Ravindra Jadeja caught after he scored a quick fire half-century.
Dawson played 2 more Tests at home, against South Africa at Lord’s and Nottingham. He got Hashim Amla twice, while helped England clean up the tail to a victories. One of his victims, Morne Morkel, is now India’s bowling coach.
On Wednesday, Dawson marked his return to Test cricket with a fine spell of bowling. The left-arm hit the tough consistently, and kept the runs in check. He eventuallly got Yashasvi Jaiswal, who looked settled on 58. Dawson’s impact would certainly delight Ben Stokes, with the 35-year-old using all his experience on a return to the arena.
