India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is on the verge of returning to action. The Mumbai Indians star underwent surgery after IPL 2025 but is all set to don the India colours. The 33-year-old has been practicing at the NCA’s Centre of Excellence, with the Asia Cup 2025 just a month away.
Suryakumar Yadav returns to training ahead of Asia Cup 2025
Suryakumar Yadav enjoyed a fruitful IPL 2025 campaign and will aim to pick up where he left off. The Mumbai Indians ace won the MVP and did not score less than 25 in each of innings during the tournament. However, he was laid low by a sports hernia soon after the tournament finish. Surya then left for Germany and underwent surgery.
Now fully recovered, India’s T20I captain is putting in the hard yards. Yadav is working towards match fitness and has been at the National Cricket Academy’s Centre of Excellence. He was seen practicing in the nets, aiming to make a mark in a major tournament. Yadav also was seen doing a number of endurance exercises trying to bulk up his load for proper cricketing action.
It is a busy few months for Indian cricket. Suryakumar Yadav has led India’s T20I transformation under coach Gautam Gambhir. The Men in Blue will have eyes on retaining the T20 World Cup next year in New Zealand. The Asia Cup 2025 is a good prep, handing multi-nation tournament experience to India’s young squad.
