Asia Cup 2025: Kuldeep Yadav para perder el lugar ‘especialista’ ante Ravi Bishnoi?

India cricket team star Kuldeep Yadav may miss out on a spot in the squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. The spinner, who was a part of IND vs ENG series but didn’t play even in a single game, last featured in a T20I for the side back in June 2024 against South Africa. With India set to announce the preliminar squad for the 8-nation tournament soon, a report has shed light on Kuldeep’s chances of making it to the 15-member side.

No Kuldeep Yadav for Asia Cup?

As per The Telegraph, Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi are being considered for the role of ‘specialist spinners’ for the Asia Cup and not Kuldeep. The other all-round spin options that India are likely to go with are Axar Patel and Washington Sundar. Despite having 69 wickets from 40 T20Is and 15 wickets from 14 matches in IPL 2025, Kuldeep is likely to be left out.

On the other hand, Bishnoi last played a T20I earlier in February in the series against England at home. Since making his debut in 2022, the LSG spinner has bagged 61 wickets from 42 matches and averages 19.37. Like Kuldeep, he too had a sub-par IPL 2025 season where he picked just 9 wickets from 11 matches.

Meanwhile, Varun Chakravarthy is a sure-shot inclusion in the side, given his familiarity with the surface in Dubai. Besides, he played a crucial role in helping India clinch the Champions Trophy earlier this year. In just 18 T20Is, the mystery spinner has already bagged 33 wickets and averages 14.57. In IPL 2025, he finished with 17 wickets from 13 games and was more expensive than he usually is.

Apart from Axar and Washington, India have another all-round spin option that the can potentially consider – Krunal Pandya. Asia Cup 2025 will start from Septmeber 9 and will go on till September 28.
