India aún no ha anunciado su equipo de la Copa Asia 2025 y una decisión sobre Mohammed Siraj sería un llamado para Agarkar y Gambhir
India will aim to defend their Asia Cup title when the tournament returns next month. BCCI will host the tournament in the UAE in T20 format, with eyes on preparation for the T20 World Cup. India have an embarrassment of riches in the shortest format of the game, leading to a few difficult decisions for selector Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir. Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh will headline India’s pace attack, so where does that leave Mohammed Siraj?
How have India lined up in recent times?
Since the T20 World Cup win last year, India have largely featured a rotational side. Arshdeep Singh has led the attack, while Mohammed Shami featured in the T20Is against England earlier this year. Harshit Rana also featured, but alongside Shami seems to be out of India’s t20 plans for the tournament.
Jasprit Bumrah is fit and available and could slot alongside Arshdeep Singh. With Bumrah, India will have to make a call on his availability with the Test series against West Indies starting soon after. Suryakumar Yadav and Gambhir have opted for a spin heavy attack at times, with Hardik Pandya often dovetailing as a second seamer.

The curious case of Mohammed Siraj
Siraj was part of India’s victorious 2024 T20 world Cup campaign. He featured in the T20I series against Sri Lanka, but has since been out of the side. The 30-year-old has seen his stocks rise since. In IPL 2025, Siraj picked up 16 wickets in 14 games sharig new ball duties for Gujarat Titans. He followed it up as India’s leading wicket taker in the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy, poicking 23 wickets in 5 Test matches.
India opted against Mohammed Siraj in the Champions Trophy earlier this year, preferring Harshit Rana. Siraj has since usurped him in the pecking order and could be in contention. But as is the case with Bumrah, workload will be a key part of the decision behind Siraj’s inclusion. The CT campaign is the only period of rest the Hyderabad pacer has had in 2025, with series against Australia and West Indies also on the horizon.
