Zim vs SA: Ganadores del Campeonato Mundial de Pruebas, Sudáfrica está jugando sin algunos de sus incondicionales en la serie.
If the first hour of the ZIM vs SA 1st Test in Bulawayo, was anything to go by, one would have expected the visitors to be bundled out inside 200. After all, they were reeling at 55/4 at one stage. But then, one should never forget, that Zimbabwe are the perennial minnows of Test cricket. No matter what the situation, the opposition does get a chance to make a comeback in the match.
Lhuan-dre Pretorious Breaks Long-standing Record
And that opportunity was grabbed with both hands by Protean debutants — Dewald Brevis (51 from 41), and then Lhuan-dre Pretorious (153 from 160). Towards the end of the day, playing only his second match, all-rounder Corbin Bosch too brought up his first century in Tests, as South Africa ended the day on 418/9 in 90 overs.
Corbin Bosch & Dewald Brevis Also Chip in
IN the process, Lhuan-dre became the youngest SA batter to score a century on debut. He broke the 61-year-old record held by Greame Pollock — at 19 years and 93 days, breaking the previous record of 19 years and 317 days. As far as the other batters are concerned, the top order was a big flop, with Tony de Zorzi, Matthew Breetzke, Wiaan Mulder and David Bedingham, not troubling the scorers much.
Lower-order chipped in with a few valuable runs. Captain Keshav Maharaj scored 21 and then Codi Yusuf made 27 from 49. On bowling front, Zimbabwe, on the whole were ordinary. Blessing Muzarabani was the pick of the bowlers as he took 2/59. Tanaka Chivanga picked up 4/83.
