El ex jugador de cricket de Inglaterra, Michael Vaughan, ha afirmado que India ha jugado a lo seguro al dejar de lado a Kuldeep Yadav para la segunda prueba
Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan has claimed that India have played it safe by not picking Kuldeep Yadav in their playing XI for ENG vs IND 2nd Test. The leg spinner was left out of the playing XI for the Edgbaston Test while Washington Sundar was added to the line-up. India’s woes so far in this series have been with the ball and not with the bat. Hence, Kuldeep’s exclusion comes as a surprise.
Did India err by not picking Kuldeep Yadav for Edgbaston Test?
Speaking on Sony Sports Network, Vaughan dubbed India’s playing XI for the ENG vs IND 2nd Test as a “safe selection”. He explained that Kuldeep would have been apt for India as he would have aided in getting 20 wickets.
“Not playing Kuldeep is a safe decision. They’ve not picked what I believe is a bowler that could easily get 6 or 7 wickets in a Test match. You have to get 20. The pitch is pretty dry. Surely you have to play a leg-spinner. I think India gone for a safe selection,” Vauhan said.
Vaughan went on to explain why he thought leaving Kuldeep out was considered a safe selection. He said that when a team loses the first match, then they start playing safe via selections. The former England cricketer pointed out that in order for a team to break free from a losing streak, risks need to be taken.
“When a team goes behind and starts losing you start selecting for safe. The only way to get out of that losing streak is to go for it and take risks. I think this is a very very safe selection. It might work and they might bat great. It’s not the batting that was the problem at Headingley,” he added.
