July 25 was tough for India and RCB. Jasprit Bumrah looked out of gas. His body language, speed, and accuracy were down. Joe Root took full toll of this and broke some all-time records. Shubman Gill came under heavy scrutiny over his selections and usage of bowlers. Rishabh Pant’s injury may force the ICC to change its rule. As for RCB. They might have to shift their home base from M. Chinnaswamy Stadium for IPL 2026. And one of their star players, Yash Dayal, has been accused of sexual harassment by a minor.

Bumrah lacking match fitness?
Jasprit Bumrah hasn’t looked like the bowler we know. His line and lengths were off. One was wondering what had happened. Then a graphic showed that Bumrah hasn’t bowled a single delivery over 140 in the match. His speed was significantly down. Later, we learnt that he tripped on the stairs and hurt his ankle. He wasn’t injured, but one has to question whether Bumrah is fit for Test cricket off the back of his back injury.

New home ground for RCB?
The Justice John Michael Cunha Commission has deemed the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as ‘unsafe for mass gatherings’ after 11 people died and over 50 were injured in the Bengaluru stampede. The upcoming Women’s World Cup matches may not be held there. Doubts over RCB playing there in IPL 2026 have also risen.

Pant injury to force ICC rule change?
Rishabh Pant’s foot injury may bring about a change in the ICC’s rules. Pant had to be wheeled off the ground and was advised to rest for 6 weeks after suffering a metatarsal fracture in his right foot. Pant still came out to bat, despite having difficulty even walking. The ICC has noted this and, in their next cricket committee meeting, will discuss allowing replacements for serious external injuries.

Gill gets grilled
Shubman Gill has come under a lot of fire. After India’s lacklustre bowling, Ashwin questioned the obsession with picking all-rounders over bowlers. He questioned Kuldeep Yadav’s omission despite Nitish Reddy being injured. Later, Ravi Shastri questioned the decision not to bowl Washington Sundar until the 69th over after the spinner took 2 wickets in his spell.

Record-breaking Root
Joe Root stands behind just Sachin Tendulkar now. After his glorious 150-run knock, Root has become the second-highest run-scorer in Test cricket history. He overtook Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, and Ricky Ponting to get there. Root now also has the joint fourth most Test hundreds.

Another FIR against Yash Dayal
Yash Dayal has been accused of sexual harassment by a minor girl in Jaipur. The girl alleged that Dayal exploited her for over 2 years, promising her a career in professional cricket. The girl, who’s 19 now, stated she was 17 when she met the RCB fast bowler. Earlier this month, another woman had claimed that Dayal had sexually exploited her.
