BCCI ganó Rs 9.741 millones de rupias en 2023-24, solo IPL obtuvo Rs 5000 millones de rupias

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) continues to grow leaps and bounds as it has posted his highest-ever earnings in 2023-24. Considered as the world’s richest cricket board, the BCCI has posted earnings of Rs 9741 crores in the previous calendar year. Undoubtedly, the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) has contributed more than 50% to the BCCI’s earnings.

IPL continues to drive BCCI’s revenue

As per MyKhel, the BCCI earned Rs 5761 crore from IPL alone in 2023/24. The board earned Rs 1042 crore from the ICC’s share and earned Rs 987 crore from reserves and investments. Rs 378 crore was earned from the Women’s premier League (WPL) while Rs 361 crore each was earned from non-IPL media rights and ticket sales & commercial rights.

In 2022-23, the BCCI earned Rs 6820 crore. Prior to that, in 2021-22, the board posted annual earnings of Rs 4230 crore. The 2023-24 earnings indicate that the BCCI has added over Rs 5000 crore to their earnings, marking a significant growth.

IPL > WPL

A report by Havas Play revealed the staggering reach of Indian sporting leagues, claiming that the IPL continues to tower above the rest, while even the WPL has now surpassed European football giants in Indian viewership.

According to the report, the IPL recorded a jaw-dropping 857 million viewers across TV and digital platforms in 2024, with 464 million tuning in via television and 393 million watching on OTT platforms.

IPL 2025 clocked over 840 billion minutes of total watch time. Despite a one-week suspension due to geopolitical tensions, the league didn’t lose steam.
